Case Study: The Synergy of Global Logistics and Local SEO on Google Maps
The world of local SEO/GEO and logistics is evolving at an unprecedented pace.
Global leaders, such as the shipping company DHL, are coming up with amazing innovations that make life easier for customers.
A great example is the integration of DHL’s delivery network with the AlzaBox infrastructure.
Thanks to this eco-friendly and flexible step, customers can send and pick up their packages
24 hours a day, 7 days a week at more than 2,400 popular locations across Czechia.
Connecting such a massive physical network with the digital world requires exceptionally robust technologies. For these purposes, Google provides advanced Bulk Verification tools and an API interface that allows for the efficient automated management of hundreds of locations at once.
In this case study, our team at Digisolu focused on how these strong technological foundations and bold e-commerce steps can be tuned to absolute perfection on a local level. We show that the combination of automated corporate feeds and precise local optimization directly in the field brings the best possible customer experience.
1. Our Steps: From Analysis to Partnership and Map Refinement
Modern local SEO/GEO requires a deep understanding of reality on the street, close cooperation with marketing teams, and active dialogue on Google’s expert platforms:
– Expert workshop for an agency cooperating with DHL:
In 2021, we organized an expert workshop for specialists from the marketing agency working with DHL at the time. Together, we went through recommendations for unifying names (e.g., to a clean DHL Service Point Locker), adding local data, and linking profiles with local Google Ads.
– Constructive dialogue with DHL marketing:
We connected directly with a key DHL Express manager on LinkedIn.
The goal was to share our local data and offer recommendations on how to unify profile management across divisions and ensure that customers always reliably deliver their packages to the right place.
However, we did not receive any response from DHL in 2026, which highlights how administratively and communicatively complex the management of such an extensive branch network can be within large corporate structures.
– Communication with Google Czechia:
In 2026, we established direct communication with Google Czechia, where they have a long-term focus on digital development and supporting Czech companies.
The goal was to open a constructive discussion about the possibilities of refining algorithms and API interfaces so that the bulk management of delivery boxes complements the real accuracy of map data, not just for Czech users.
2. Two-Level Expert Activity on Google Platforms
To achieve a deep systemic understanding of the entire problem, Zdeněk Horák operated in two different time planes on two different Google expert platforms:
– Google Business Profile (GBP) Private PE Forum:
On this private forum intended for certified Product Experts, Zdenek, in his capacity as a Product Expert, escalated purely technical questions in 2024 regarding Bulk verification via API and its connection to local Google Ads (Location Extensions). Although we did not receive a direct response with an immediate solution from the Community Manager at the time, this technical discussion may have helped better define the limits of automated verification algorithms.
– Local Guides Connect – Global Community Forum:
On this worldwide public platform for Local Guides, Zdenek opened a key discussion topic in 2026 entitled „Combatting ghost parcel boxes when automated feeds overrule Local Guides‘ reality“.
The whole matter is currently actively being resolved and has sparked a wave of interest on Local Guides Connect among users who are working together to find an optimal technological consensus.
3. Case Study from Brno: Solving „Ghost Boxes“ on Jundrovská Street
We demonstrated this conflict between automated data and physical reality on a specific case from Brno (Jundrovská 278/24 street):
– Context (One box, three pins):
In the real world, there is only one physical delivery box at this address – an AlzaBox.
Companies DHL and DPD use it as a partner pick-up point based on software integration. However, automated feeds generated a separate, independent pin on the map for each company. For users, it looks on the map as if there are three different colored boxes standing next to each other, which can cause confusion when picking up a package.
– Innovative solution from Digisolu:
To help navigation systems and end customers find precise delivery points, we captured
and uploaded a new 3D Street View route (the so-called blue line) directly to Google Maps.
This visual data provided irrefutable proof of the real state on the ground, helped refine Google Maps data, and showed a way to effectively resolve conflicts between automated databases and community-verified reality from people in the field.
This is what it looks like on Google Maps right now:
DHL Ghost:
Automatically created „DHL Service Point Locker (Alzabox Brno – Komín – Jundrovská)“
(does not physically exist) → DHL Pin on Google Maps
DPD Ghost:
Automatically created „DPD Pickup – Alzabox“
(does not physically exist) → DPD Pin on Google Maps
4. Result: The Path to the Synergy of Automation and Local Accuracy
The true result of this whole story shows that the integration of modern technologies is an ongoing process of optimization and mutual synergy:
– Business success and flexibility: For DHL, using the AlzaBox partner network is a huge step forward in terms of flexibility and delivery capacities, bringing customers a network of pick-up points accessible 24/7.
– Fine-tuning Google algorithms: For Google and its advertising system, community feedback is a great foundation for continuously fine-tuning algorithms and API interfaces so that mass automation complements the real user experience in the field.
– Shared dialogue: This constructive dialogue on expert forums helps create a balanced environment where modern corporate e-commerce effectively coexists with the local accuracy of Google Maps for the benefit of end-customer satisfaction.
